For 15 years, we have had the pleasure of contributing with you to the history of Mode & Caftan, the first Moroccan caftan brand born in France and online. Cornely embroidery
Cornely embroidery is a hand-crafted mechanical embroidery technique, performed using a specific machine invented in 1865 by the French engineer Émile Cornely. This machine was designed to imitate the Beauvais stitch, a hand-made chain stitch, allowing for precise and fluid mechanical reproduction. Cornely embroidery is a hand-crafted embroidery done manually using a Cornely machine. The particularity of this machine lies in its hand-guided system: the craftsman uses a handle located under the machine to direct the needle, following the pattern previously traced on the fabric. This method, called "hand-guided," offers great freedom of movement and allows for the creation of complex designs with great precision.

Digital embroidery, or computer-assisted embroidery (CAD), is a modern technique that uses an embroidery machine controlled by computer software to create precise and reproducible designs on fabric. It allows for a wide choice of designs and stitches (satin stitch, filling stitch, etc.) as well as high precision and consistency of stitches.

SFIFA
The Moroccan caftan is distinguished by the sfifa, an iconic element that adorns its edges. A true artisanal signature, it gives the caftan its unique and refined character.
The sfifa is made from silk threads of different colors, meticulously woven to create a variety of patterns. The choice of threads is always made in harmony with the shade of the fabric, in order to enhance each piece with refinement.
Aqaads, tressage et sfifa
A chaque robe ses boutons et sa passementerie, choisis avec soin pour s’accorder parfaitement aux couleurs et aux tissus du caftan. Le tressage qui borde la sfifa est coordonné avec précision, tandis que chaque bouton est façonné un à un à la main, selon une technique ancestrale transmise de génération en génération. La sfifa, elle aussi, est réalisée sur mesure pour chaque modèle. Ces éléments fondateurs, travaillés dans le moindre détail, sont la signature de l’authenticité et de l’élégance du caftan marocain.
